Blossoming Stones, despite their relatively short-term presence in the local cultural events, have already developed a wide range of actions towards the realization of their goals. The initiatives, which are either in the implementation phase, or have been completed, involve - very briefly - the conservation of traditional architecture (surveying of important historical monuments, etc.), the documentation and promotion of important buildings, the recording of the intangible cultural heritage of the Lagadia art of stone through the testimonies of the last living craftsmen, the collection, preservation and digitization of valuable archival material and the first pilot educational activities.

The need to promote and make optimum use of the knowledge and the material accumulated renders the idea for the creation of the Center of Traditional Architecture in Lagadia, Arcadia quite mature. For this reason, the Board of Directors, following a proposal by President Giannis Tsiaousis, decided to proceed with the purchase of a building of significant architectural and historical value and, on September 16, 2016, signed a relevant draft sales agreement. It is a dilapidated mansion (owned by the Rigopoulos family until 2006) which is a fine example of the architecture of Lagadia. Based on its typology, its construction dates back to the last decades of the 19th century. The fact that it is in danger of collapsing, calls for the citizens’ motivation for its preservation; therefore, the prospect of it housing the Center of Traditional Architecture also constitutes an intervention to preserve the building. Its accessibility and its location near important architectural and historical landmarks of Lagadia, such as the Agios Ioannis Prodromos Church and the historic tower of the Deligiannis family can be listed as significant advantages. It is sizeable enough to host - after the necessary interventions - the activities of the Center (museum-exhibition, cultural, educational, research activities etc.) and will also become the headquarters for several of our planned actions.
