Anthi Tis Petras (Flowers of Stone) came to life as an initiative of active citizens sharing an interest in the protection and promotion of traditional architecture. The presence of expert scientists among the founding members and our cooperation with architects, leading researchers in this important field of our cultural heritage, historians, people of Arts & Letters and, additionally, with relevant institutions and bodies (NTUA, Polytechnic Schools, TEI etc) gave us the opportunity to constantly enrich our thought and continuously upgrade our actions. Since the very beginning, we set our key goals and the actions to meet them bring us closer to the realization of our vision.
Conservation of traditional settlements, individual buildings and works of public and private architecture such as bridges, churches, schools, fountains, mansions and simple houses with special architectural and historical value
The reconstruction of the network of paths of stone craftsmanship and of the Lagadia craftsmen, leading to the promotion of the cultural routes of the art of stone thus incorporating the tangible and intangible elements of the stone craftsmanship activities.
The Center of Traditional Architecture will be the headquarters not only for the study and presentation of the craftsmen’s works, but also for the realization of the other goals of our Movement.
The promotion of the use of stone not only as a building material but also as a means of artistic expression and as a source of inspiration for artistic and intellectual creations in general.
